Sri Chaitanya Math is known as Akara Matha-raja, meaning “the original form and king of all Maths.” This title, given by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Goswami Thakur, signifies that Sri Chaitanya Math in Mayapur is the parent and fountainhead of the entire Gaudiya Math movement. All Gaudiya Maths and organized preaching activities originate from it in principle, guidance, and spiritual authority. Here, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Himself is worshiped, while other Maths exist to serve and expand His mission. Thus, Akara Matha-raja Sri Chaitanya Math stands as the supreme spiritual nucleus of pure Gaudiya Vaishnavism.
